The story begins with a little show called Corkscrewed..... The reality show “Corkscrewed: The Wrath of Grapes” starred the owners of the vineyard Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick. “Corkscrewed: The Wrath of Grapes” was a reality series following the trials and exploits of award-winning entertainment producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick as they make a major investment in a long held dream – owning their own vineyard. From childhood friends in the backstreets of Liverpool to producing the huge US primetime hit, American Idol, Ken and Nigel are a phenomenal success story.
The beautiful 168 acre vineyard in Paso Robles, California consists of a broad range of grapes including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Syrah, Syrah, Zinfandel, Sauvignon Blanc. May of 2008 the first Estate grown bottling was made. We have released five wines under the Villa San-Juliette Label. The wines have been very well received and are currently being poured and sold at various restaurants and wine shops across the state.
While things have been crazy Nigel and Ken refuse to give up on their lifelong dream.....Villa San-Juliette vineyard and winery is slowly developing into what will someday be a HUGE Success!
NIGEL LYTHGOE
Nigel is currently the President of 19 Television Lythgoe is one of the UK’s most respected TV talents and has a host of major credits, including the UK series “Pop Idol” from which was born “American Idol.”
He began as a dancer in the British song and dance group “The Young Generation” in 1968. Later becoming it’s choreographer in 1971. He choreographed over 500 shows in the UK and Europe, working with such stars as Chita Rivera, Ben Vereen, Cyd Charisse, the Muppet’s and the incredible Gene Kelly. In 1989 he became a television Producer/Director and brought “American Gladiators” to the UK which soon became a major success for London Weekend Television. Nigel became Controller of Entertainment and Comedy for that company in 1996. In 2000 he Produced and became a judge on the British version of “Popstars.” He was so tough with the contestants that the press named him “Nasty” Nigel. He was invited to join Simon Fuller’s 19 Entertainment in 2001 and develop Fuller’s concept of “Idol.” The show became an instant hit on British television and later around the World.
He went on to co-create and executive-produce FOX’s summer hit, “So You Think You Can Dance” where he returned in front of the cameras as a resident judge. The show recently picked up 2 Emmy’s for its Choreography. Nigel's current project is Superstars of Dance. Superstars features professional dancers from 8 different countries.
Nigel has two sons Simon and Kristopher who have joined him living and working in Los Angeles. He also has a grandson, George.
KEN WARWICK
Ken Warwick is FremantleMedia's executive producer on worldwide productions of the "Idols" format, including "American Idol," "World Idol" and "An American Idol Christmas." He was series producer for the UK show "Pop Idol," which received Europe's top television award, the Golden Rose for Montreux (the Rose d'Or), a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award and National Television Award for Best Entertainment Program, as well as five Emmy nominations. "American Idol" has earned 30 Emmy Award nominations to date and in 2007 received the prestigious Governors Award, the Television Academy's highest honor, for "Idol Gives Back." Warwick also executive produces "America's Got Talent" and previously produced primetime entertainment shows for the BBC and ITV, among them "Gladiators," "Don't Try This At Home" and Royal Tournament coverage.
Adding reality star to his list of credits, Warwick appeared on "Corkscrewed: The Wrath of Grapes," a reality series that followed two TV producers, himself and Lythgoe, as they pursued a long-held dream that had fermented for years: purchasing a California vineyard.
Warwick lives in Los Angeles with his wife Julie and three children Joe, Gracie and Max.
